A Carnot's cycle operating betiween T(1)...

A Carnot's cycle operating betiween `T_(1)=600K and T_(2)=300 K` Producing 1.5 KJ of mechanical work per cycle. The transferred to the engine by the reservoirs is

A

2.5 KJ

B

3 KJ

C

3.5 KJ

D

4 KJ

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

Here, `T_(1)=6000 K,T_(2)`=300 K,W=1.5 kJ=15000 J,
As `eta=1-(T_(2))/(T_(1))=1-(300)/(600)=(1)/(2)`
Also, `eta =("work done")/("heat supplied")=(W)/(Q_(1))`
`therefore Q_(1)=(W)/(eta)=(1500)/(1//2)`=3000 J = 3 KJ
