The equilibrium , PCI5 (g) hArr PCI3(g) ...

The equilibrium , `PCI_5 (g) hArr PCI_3(g) +CI_2(g)` is attatined at `25^@C` in a closed container and an inert gas He is introduced . Which of the following statements are correct ?

A

Concentration of `PCI_5 and CI_2` are changed

B

More `CI_2` is formed

C

Concentration of `PCI_3` is reduced

D

Nothing happens

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

Since decomposition of `PCI_5` is carried out in a closed container. When helium gas is introduced the volume remains constant and there is no change in the partial pressures of `PCI_5, PCI_3 and CI-2` . Therefore, nothing happens on introduction of helium gas and constant volume.
