The volume strength of `1*5` N `H_(2)O_(2)` solution is

A

`4.8`

B

`5.2`

C

`8.4`

D

`8.8`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

Normality = 1.5 N
Equivalent weight of `H_(2)O_(2)=17`
So, strength of the solutions, `S=E xx N`
`=17xx1.5=25.5`
`2H_(2)O_(2)rarr 2H_(2)O+O_(2)`
`=2xx34=68 g`
`because` 68 g of `H_(2)O_(2)` produce `O_(2)` at NTP = 22.4 L
`therefore` 25.5g of `H_(2)O_(2)` will produce
`=(22.4)/(68)xx25.5`
`=8.4 L` of `O_(2)`
