The equation of a plane progressive wave...

The equation of a plane progressive wave is give by equation
`y=10sin2pi(t-0.005x)`
where y and x are in cm and t is in seconds. Calculate the amplitude, frequency, wavelength and velocity of the wave.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here `y = 10 sin 2omega(t-0.005x)`
`y = 10 sin(2pi)/200(200t-x)`
The equation of a travelling wave is given by
`y=a sin (2pi)/lambda(vt-x)` compairing the equation (i) and (ii), we have `alpha=10cm, lambda=200cm and v=200ms^(-1)` Now `v=v/lambda=200/200=1Hz`.
