Figures shows a plane mirror on which a light ray is incident, if the incident light ray is turned by `10^(@)` and the mirror by `20^(@)` as shown , find the angle turned by the reflected ray.

A

30° clockwise

B

30° anticlockwise

C

50° clockwise

D

50° anticlock wise

The correct Answer is:
A

(i) When the incident ray is fixed and mirror rotates through angle 2`theta`° clock wise then reflected ray rotates clock wise through 40° angle.
(ii) when mirror (M) in fixed and incident ry rotates through angle ] Q° clockwise then reflected ray rotates through angle 10° anticlockwise.
Total angle turned by the reflected ray
= 40° clockwise + 10° anti clockwise
= 30° (clockwise)
