Statement-I : When base region has larger width, the collector current decreases.
Statement-II : In transistor, sum of base current and collector current is equal to emitter current.

A

If both assertion and reason are true and the reason is the correct explanation of the assertion

B

The correct Answer is:
2

Thinner the base region, more curent is made to reach the collector, giving bigger beta. Thinner the base, less recombination time given to the carriers of the emitter crossing over tot the collector via the base.
The sum of currents entering a transistor has to be equal to the sum of currents leaving the transistor. For a three terminal BJT, in both saturation and active region the emitter current is equal to the sum of base ad collector currents.
