An old person complained of actue pain in the stomch. Doctor gave him a small antacid table and he got immediate relief. What actually happened ?

The old person was suffering from acute acidity. Antacid table contains sodium hydrogen carbonate `(NaHCO_(3))` It reacts with the acid (HCl) formed because of acidity and neturalizes its effect. That in how the old person got relief.
