Maximum deviation from ideal gas is expected from

A

`H_(2)(g)`

B

`N_(2)(g)`

C

`CH_(4)(g)`

D

`NH_(3)(g)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

The extent to which a real gas deviates from ideal behaviour can be understood by a quantity 'Z' called the compressibility factor. Easily liquifiable gases like `NH_(3),SO_(2)` etc. exhibit maximum deviation from ideal gas as for them `Zlt lt lt1`.
`CH_(4)` also exhibits deviation but it is less as compared to `NH_(3)`.
