One half of a convex lens is covered with a black paper. Will this lens produce a complete image of the object? Verify your answer experimentally. Explain your observations.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The convex lens half coverd with a blace paper will produce a conplete image of an object (as shown in the Figure alongside). We can verify this by obtaining the image of a tree (or a window) on a screen by using this half coverd convex lens. The full image of and object is produced by this convex lens (which is half covered with a black paper) because light rays can still pass through its optical centre (as shown in Figure given here).
