Maximum number bulbs of 60 W that can be used in a 220V supply line protected by a 10A fuse is

A

40

B

36

C

10

D

60

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

On a line, the bulbs are connected in parallel.
Current drawn by one bulb =1
`therefore` Power =VI
60=220I
or `I=(60)/(220)=(3)/(11)` amp.
When n bulb at the most are connected.
Total current `-nl=(3n)/(11)`
`(3n)/(11)=10`
or `n=36`.
