A wooden block, with a coin placed on its top, floats in water as shown in figure. The distance l and h are shown here. After some time the coin falls into water. Then

A

`l` decreases and `h` increases

B

`l` increase and `h` decreases

C

both `l` and `h` increase

D

both `l` and `h` decrease

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

When coin falls into water weight decreases causing the Buoyancy decrease so block will rise thus decreasing l. Since density of coin is greater than that of water so earlier it was deflecting water deflecting water greater than it's volume so h will decrease.
