Point out the anugular momentum of an electron in,
(a) `4s` orbital (b) `3p` orbital (c ) `4^(th)` orbit )according to Bohr model)

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
(a)`0`, (b) `h/sqrt(2pi)`, (c) `(2n)/(pi)`

Orbital angular momentum `=sqrt(l(l+1))h/(2pi)`
For `4 s` orbital, `l=0 :.` Angular momentum`=sqrt(0(0+1))h/(2pi)=0`
For `3p` orbital, `l=1 :.` Angular momentum `=sqrt(1(1+1))h/(2pi)=sqrt(2) h/(2pi)`
For `4^(th)` orbit, Angular momentum `=(nh)/(2pi)=(4h)/(2pi)=(2h)/(pi)`
