A tyre pumped to a pressure `3.375 atm "at" 27^(@)C` suddenly bursts. What is the final temperature `(gamma = 1.5)`?

Text Solution

Air of the type adiabatically expanded.
initial preseure `" " ` P = 3.375 atmoshpere,
initial temperature `" " T = 27^@C + 273 = 300K.`
Final pressure `" "` P. = 1 atmosphere,
Final temperature `" "` T. = ?
`gamma = 1.5 = 3//2`
For adiabatic expansion
`T^gamma/P^(gamma-1) = T^gamma/(P.(gamma-1)) or (T/T.)^gamma = (P/P.)^(gamma - 1)`
Putting the values :
`(300/T.)^(3//2) = (3.375/1)^(1//2) or 300/T.= (3.375)/1)^(1//3) = 1.5`
