`BC` is diameter=> `r= (BC)/2= 14/2 = 7`cm
area(shaded) = ar(square) - `2*area(BPC)`
= ar(square)-area(circle)
`=(14)^2- pi*7^2 cm^2`
`= (14^2 - 22/7*7*7)cm^2`
`=(196-154) = 42cm^2`
