The volume of a given mass of gas with some pieces of marble in a container at 760 mm of pressure is 100ml. If the pressure is changed to 1000mm of Hg, the new volume is 80ml. Find out the volume occupied by the marble pieces keeping temperature constant.

Let volume of marbles=V ml
`therefore` volume of gas at 760mm pressure is `(100-V)` ml and that at 1000mm pressure is `(80-V)`. So wer have from Boyle.s law `P_(1)V_(1)=P_(2)V_(2)` or, `760times(100-V)=1000times(80-V)` or, `V=16.6ml`
`therefore` Volume of marble peices is 16.6ml.
