In the figure shown B(1),B(2)" and "B(3)...

In the figure shown `B_(1),B_(2)" and "B_(3)` are three bulbs rated as (200V, 50 W), (200V, 100W) and (200V, 25W) respectively. Find the current through each bulb and which bulb will give more light ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`R_(1)=((200)^(2))/50,R_(2)=((200)^(2))/100, R_(3)=((200)^(2))/25`
the current following throught each bulb is
`200/(R_(1)+R_(2)+R_(3))=200/((200)^(2)[underset(100)(2+1+4)])=100/(200xx7)=1/14A`
`"Since "R_(3)gtR_(1)gtR_(2)`
`therefore" Power consumed by bulb "= i^(2)R`
`therefore "if the resistance is of higher value then it will give more light".`
`therefore "Here Bulb "B_(3)" will hive more light".`
