Bhopal gas tragedy occurred (23 Dec. 1984) when MIC (Methyl Isocyante) reacted with water in a tank, an exothermic chemical reaction started and produced a lot of heat. As a result, the safety value of tank burst because of increase in pressure and gave rise to a heavy gas which rapidly killed the people around.
