A lift coming down is just about to reach the ground floor. Taking the ground floor are origin and positive direction upwards for all quantities, which one of the following is correct?

A

`xlt0,vlt0,agt0`

B

`xgt0,vlt0,alt0`

C

`xgt0,vlt0,agt0`

D

`xgt0,vgt0,agt0`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

As the lift is coming down, the value of x becomes less hence negative (i.e,`x lt0`).
Velocity is downwards (i.e., negative). So `v lt 0`.
Just before reaching ground floor, lift is retarded, i.e, acceleration is upwards, Hence `a gt 0`.
We can conclude that `x lt0 ,v lt 0 `and `a gt0`. `thereofore` (a) is correct.

A lift is freely falling from 8th floor and is just about to stop at 4th floor. Taking ground floor as origin and positive direction upwards for displacement, velocity, acceleration. Which one of the following is correct?

A lift is freely falling from 8^(th) floor and is just about to stop at 4^(th) floor.Taking ground floor as origin and positive direction upwards for displacement ,velocity ,acceleration.Which one of the following is correct?

The necessary condition for a molecule to exhibit optical isomerism is dissymmetry or chiral. Thus all organic compounds which contain one as symetric carbon atom are chiral and exist in two stereoisomers. Although the two forms have the same structure, they have different arrangements of groups about the as symmetric carbon. In fact, they represent as symetric molecules. They do not have a plane of symmetry. They are related to each other as an object to its mirror image and are non superimposable. The two structures actually stand for dextro or (+) and leavo or (-) isomers. Since they are related each other as mirror images, they are commonly called enantiomers. Which of the following statements is correct regarding compounds I to III
