Calculate the amount of 50% `H_(2)SO_(4)` required to decompose 25g calcium carbonate :-

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`CaCO_(3) + H_(2)SO_(4) to CaSO_(4) + H_(2)O + CO_(2)`
100 g Marble require 98 g of `H_(2)SO_(4)`
`"25 g will need" = (98)/(100) xx 25 = 24.5 g of H_(2)SO_(4)`
But `H_(2)SO_(4)` provided is only 50%
so, `"amount required will be" = (24.5 xx 100)/( 50) = 49 g`
