Which gas is produced when dilute hydrochloric acid is added to a reactive metal? Write the chemical reaction when iron reacts with dilute `H_(2)SO_(4).`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Hydrogen gas `(H_(2))` is produced when a reactive metal reacts with dilute hydrochloric acid. Iron and dilute `H_(2)SO_(4)` react as follows :
`Fe(s) + H_(2)SO_(4)("dil") rarr FeSO_(4)(aq) + H_(2)(g)`
Hydrogen gas is evolved in this reaction also.
