Two trains are moving in opposite direction on same track. When their separation was 600m their drivers notices the mistake and starts slowing down to avoid collision Graphs of their velocities as function of time is as shown, find separation between the drivers when first train stops:

A

100M

B

160M

C

112M

D

124m

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Distance travelled by first train in 8 sec
`S_(1)=(1)/(2)(8)(50)=200m`
Distance travelled by second train in 8 sec.
`S_(2)=60(8)+(1)/(2)(-6)(8)^(2)=288m`
separation between the drivers
`=600-(200+288)=112m`

Two trains, which are moving along different tracks in opposite directions, are put on the same track due to a mistake. Their drivers, on noticing the mistake, start slowing down the trains when the trains are 300 m apart. Graphs given in figure show their velocities as function of time as the trains slow down. The separation between the trains when both have stopped is

Two trans A and B 100 m and 60 m long are moving in opposite direction on parallel tracks. The velocity of the shorter train is 3 times that of the longer one. If the trains take 4s to cross each other, the velocities of the trains are

Two goods train each 500 m long, are running in opposite directions on parallel tracks. Their speeds are 45 km/hr and 30 km/hr respectively. Find the time taken by the slower train to pass the driver of the faster one.

Two trains are moving in the opposite directions on parallel tracks at the speeds of 63 km/hr and 94.50 km/hr respectively. The first train passes a pole in 6 seconds whereas the second train passes a pole in 4 seconds. Find the time taken by the trains to cross each other completely?

A passenger train and a goods train are running in the same direction on parallel railway tracks. If the passenger train now takes three times as long to pass the goods train, as when they are running in opposite directions, then what is the ratio of the speed of the passenger train to that of the goods train ? (Assume that the trains nm at uniform speeds)

Two trains A and B are moving on same track in opposite direction with velocity 25m/s and 15,m/s" respectively. When separation between them becomes 225m drivers of both the trains apply brakes producing uniform retardation in train A while retardation of train B increases linearly with time at the rate of 0.3m/s^(3).The minimum retardation of train A to avoid collision will be
