A ball is vertically downward with speed...

A ball is vertically downward with speed `5sqrt(2)` m/s to hit a horizontal surface as shown in the figure. The coefficient of resitution for the collision is `(1)/(2)` and friction coefficient `(1)/sqrt(3)`. Calculate the speed (m/s) of the ball just after the collision.

Text Solution

`N Deltat=(3mv)/(2)`
`muN Deltat=mv_(x)`
`rArr v_(x)=(3muv)/(2)`
`therefore "speed"=(v)/(2)sqrt(1+3mu^(2))=5m//s`

The collision Coefficient of restitution during the collision is changed to (1)/(2) , keeping all other parameters unchanged. What is the velocity of the ball 'B' after the collision.
