The upright pyramid and the inverted pyramid are the two types of pyramids of biomass.
Upright pyramid of Biomass- i) The base tier (of producers) is broad i.e., the biomass of producers is the maximum in the pyramid.
ii) This type of pyramid occurs in grasslands where the biomass of the procluers is much higher than that of primary consumers.
Inverted pyramid of Biomass-The base tier is narrow, i.e., the amount of biomass of producers is less than that of consumers.
iii) This type of pyramid occurs in aquatic ecosystems. Here the biomass of producers is much lower and that of primary consumers.
