a) Endosperm formation, there are three types:
i) Nuclear endosperm formation, repeated free nuclear division takes place, referred to as liquid endopserm. Ex-coconut water.
ii) Cellular endosperm formation: Here, a cell-wall formation is co-incident with nuclei divisons. Acoracease has cellular endosperm development while other monocots are helobial.
iii) Helobial endosperm: Here, cell wall is laid between the first nuclei after which one half develops into nuclear endosperms and the other half along the cellular pattern as in coconut.
b) Coconut water is considered as a 'fluid of life' It increases immunity. Tender coconut water is a good source of 'Laceric acid'.
Pea seed: Here, the endosperm is completely consumed by the developing embryo before seed maturation.
Castor: Here, the endosperm persists in the nature seed and used up during seed germination.
