Pollens are preserved in pollen bank at liquid nitrogen `(-196^(@)C)` called cryopreservation. Pollen in plants is used for transferring haploid male genetic material from the anther of a single flower to the stigma of another in cross pollination.
Pollens of different varieties of plants can be stored at liquid nitrogen temperature, which can be used to introduce the desired character into the hybrid varieties.
