(i) Classification of organisms according to a definite plan faciliates their identification and makes their study convenient.
(ii) There is vast number of organisms in this world. It is not possible for man to know about all the individuals. Thus, the study of a few representatives from each group givess a broad idea of the life as a whole.
(iii) Classification gives infromation about the organisms which do not occurs in one's own locality.
(iv) It reveals evolutionary trends by showing gradually increasing complexity of structure in the various grous of organisms.
