Why is female anopheles mosquito vector of malaria and not male Anopheles mosquito ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Male Anopheles mosquitoes feed on plant juices and hence are not carriers of malarial disease. Female Anopheles mosquito is the primary host of malarial parasite, Plasmodium. It reproduces in the salivary glands. When the female bites to human being, it transmits saliva containing malarial parasites into the human blood. The latter multiply and then cause malaria.
