Define about long shoots and dwarf shoots in Gymnosperms?

Two types of branches of stem are seen in gymnosperms - the branch with indefinite growth is called long shoot and the branch with limited growth is called dwarf shoot. Long shoot bears only brown scaly leaves, whereas dwarf shot bears both scaly and folige leaves.
