(a) Apnoea : It is the temporary cessation or stoppage of breathing.
(b) Causes : (i) Low `CO_(2)` tension in blood. (ii) Swallowing of food, Gi) Iniection of adrenaline. (iv) Stimulation of the sensory fibres of vagus nerve.
(c) In some abnormal cases respiration and apnoea occur alternately . This is called Cheyne-stokes breathing.
