Explain the importance of (a) iori, (b) `amp^(R)` and (c) rop in the E coil vector shown

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

a = Ori = origin of replication
b = `amp^(R)` = Ampicillin antibiotic resistance genes.
c = rop = It codes for the Proteins involved in replication of the plasmid.
Importance
(a) Ori-Ori is a sequence from where replication starts and any pieces of DNA when linked to this sequence can be made to replication within the host cells . It is also responsible for controlling the copy number of the llinked DNA.
(b) `Amp^(R)` = The ligation of alien DNA is carried out at a restriction site present in any antibiotic resistance gene.
(c) It codes for the proteins involved in the replication of the plasmid.
