An element has three oxidant number,+6,+...

An element has three oxidant number,+6,+7and +4 If it exhibits +7 oxidation number in a compound will the compound be able to particloate in disproportional reaction?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The compound cannot undergo disproportionation reaction .This is because the element in the compound exists in its heighest oxidantion state. The compound would have been able to undergo disproportionation reaction if the element existed in +6 oxidation state in the compound as this oxidation sate lies between the oxidation states +7 and +4 .
