In the given circuit, the angular frequency of the voltage source is `70xx10^(3) rad s^(-1)`. The circuit effectively behaves like,

A

purely resistive circuit

B

series RL circuit

C

series RC circuit

D

series LC circuit with R=0

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
C

Given, `L = 10 mu H`,
`C = 1 mu F, R = 10 Omega` and angular frequency,
`omega = 70 x 10^(3) "rad s"^(-1)`
Now, the impedance of series LCR circuit,
`Z = sqrt(R^(2) + (omega L - (1)/(omega C))^(2))`
`rArr Z = sqrt(10^(2) + [70 xx 10^(-3) xx 10 xx 10^(-6)-(1)/(70 xx 10^(+3) xx 1 xx 10^(-6))])`
`rArr Z = sqrt(100 + [0.7-(100)/(7)]^(2))`
`rArr Z = sqrt(100 + (-13.58)^(2))`
Here, negative sign shows that the circuit properties are more likely to be capacitive than the inductive i.e.,
`rArr X_(C ) gt X_(L)`
So, the circuit behaves like series RC circuit Hence, the correct option is (c ).

A source S emitting sound of frequency 288 Hz is fixed on block B which is attached to the free end of a spring S_(2) and an observer O is on block A which is attached to the free end of spring S_(1) as shown in the figure. The blocks A and B are simultaneously displaced towards each other through a distance of 0.5 m and then left to oscillate. If the angular velocity of each blocks is 40"rad"s^(-1) , then the maximum frequency observed by the observer is (speed of sound in air is 340 ms^(-1) )
