A ray of light is incident from water on the surface of separation of air and water at an angle `30^(@)`, Calculate the angle of refraction in air. `mu` of water `=(4)/(3)`

Text Solution

Let the angle of refraction of the ray of light in air be r [Fig. 2.6]. Since the ray of light is refracted from water to air, `w^(mu)a = (sini)/(sinr) or, (1)/(a^(mu)w) = (sin30^(@))/(sinr)` `or, (1)/(4) = (1)/(2sinr) or, 2sinr = (4)/(3)`
`or, sinr = (2)/(3) = 0.666 = sin41.8^(@)`
or, ` r = 41.8^(@)`
