A ray of light is incident at an angle I...

A ray of light is incident at an angle I on a glass slab of refractive index `mu`. The angle between reflected and refracted light is `90^(@)` . Then the relationship between I and `mu` is

A

`i = tan^(-1)((1)/(mu))`

B

`tani = mu`

C

`sini = mu`

D

`cos i = mu`

The correct Answer is:
B

According to the figure,
`1 + 90_(@) + r = 180^(@) or, r = 90^(@) - 1`
`therefore "Refractive index", mu = (sini)/(sinr) = (sini)/(sin(90^(@) - i)) = tani`
