State whether any body with a two-dimensional motion may have an acceleration in one dimension only.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

A body in a two dimensional motion may have an acceleration in one dimension only. Projectile motion is two -dimensional because at any instant the object has both horizontal and vertical components of velocity. But the acceleration is one -dimensional -the acceleration due to gravity acting always downwards.
