If vecA is a constant vector, then show ...

If `vecA` is a constant vector, then show that `(vec(dA))/(dt)` is perpendicular to `vecA`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`|vecA|`= constant
`therefore vecA*vecA=A^2`= constant
`therefore d/(dt)(vecA*vecA)=0`
or, `vecA*(vec(dA))/(dt)+(vec(dA))/(dt)*vecA=0 or, 2vecA*(vec(dA))/(dt)=0`
so, `(vec(dA))/(dt)` is perpendicular to `vecA`.
