u=initial velocity at the point A [Fig.2.90].

So, u=horizontal component of initial velocity ,
0= vertical component of initial velocity.
The horizontal component ,u= constant , since there is no acceleration in that direction . But the vertical motion is under a constant acceleration g, the acceleration due to gravity.
Let B be the point where the body strikes the ground .
The corresponding vertical motion is through the distance AO =h.
