A block of mass 5 kg rests on a table. 8 N horizontal force is applied to push the block. Find out the force of friction between the block and the table. Given `mu_(s)=0.3 "and" mu_(k)`=0.2, between the block and the table and g = 10 `"m.s"^(-2)`

Normal reaction = `5xx10 `= 50 N
So, limiting friction = `mu_(s)xx"normal reaction"`
`= 0.3 xx50` 15 N
Hence on application of 8 N horizontal force, the block remains at rest.
So, friction force = applied force = 8 N
