Find the power applied by a man of mass...

Find the power applied by a man of mass 70 kg , carrying a load of 45 kg, moving up at 6.4 km per hour along a plane of inclination `1/(10)`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Velocity of the man,
`v=6.4 km*h^(-1) =(6.4xx5)/(18) m*s^(-1)`
Total weight of the man and the load =(70 +45) kg =`115 xx9.8 N`
While moving up , the man has to work against the force mg `sin theta` [Fig.1.12].

Hence, the power applied by the man,
`P =mg sin theta xxv`
`=115 xx9.8 xx1/(10)xx(6.4xx5)/(18)`
[ Here, `tan theta =1/(10) ~~ sin theta (as theta` is small)]
=200.36 W
