A force F acts on a stationary body of ...

A force F acts on a stationary body of mass m for a time t. Show that, the kinetic energy of the body iin that time `=(F^2t^2)/(2m)`.

Text Solution

In this case force, = F , initial speed , u=0 , mass =m .
From F =ma, we can write , a = `F/m`
Also, final velocity v =at =0 `+F/mt=F/mt`
`therefore` Kinetic energy of the body
`=1/2 mv^2 =1/2 m(F/mt)^2= (F^2t^2)/(2m)`.
