A body weight 63 N on the surface of the earth. What is the gravitational force on it due to the earth at a height equal to half the radius of earth ?

Let `g^.` be the acceleration due to gravity at a height h above the earth.s surface.
`g^.=(g)/((1+h/(R_e))^2)`
Let m be the mass of body . Then its weight at a height h above the earth.s surface,
`mg^.=(mg)/((1+h/(R_e))^2)`
But `h=(R_e)/(2)`
`therefore mg^.=(mg)/([1+R_e^(/2)/R_e]^2)=(63)/((1+1/2)^2)=63xx4/9=28N`
