A steel cable with a radius of 1.5 cm supports a chair-lift at a ski area. IF the maximum stress does not exceed `10^8 N.m^-2`, what is the maximum load that the cable can support?

The breaking stress is `10^8 N.m^-2`.
Therefore, the breaking load= breaking stress `times` cross sectional area
`=10^8times[3.14times(1.5times10^-2)^2]=7.065times10^4N`
