The breaking force for a wire is F.What ...

The breaking force for a wire is F.What will be the breaking force for a single wire of double the thickness?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Now, `F=(Yal)/L=(Y(pid^2)l)/(4L)`
or, `F prop d^2`
IF the wire is of double the thickness i.e., of double the diameter then breaking force will be 4F.
