A light rod of length 300 cm and of radius 3 cm is hung vertically from one end. Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio for the material of the rod are `2 times 10^12 dyn.cm^-2` amd 0.3 respectively. IF a load of 1200 kg is suspended from the other end of the rod , find the lateral strain in the rod.
