Density of argon at 27^@C and 76 cmHg pr...

Density of argon at `27^@C` and 76 cmHg pressure is `1.6 g.L^-1` .An electric bulb of volume `200 cm^3` is filled with argon. The pressure of the gas inside the bulb is 75 cmHg and the average temperature is `127^@C`. Find the mass of argon gas in the bulb.

Let the density of the gas in the bulb at a pressure of 75 cmHg abd at `127^@C=p_2`
Here `p_1=76cmHg,p_1=1.6g.L^-1`.
`T_1=273+27=300 K`
`p_2=75 cmHg,T_2=273+127= 400 K`
From the relation `p_1/(p_1T_1)=p_2/(p_2T_2)` we get,
`75/(1.6 times 300)=75/(p_2 times 400)`
`therefore p_2=(75 times 1.6 times 300)/(76 times 400)=1.184 g.L^-1`
`therefore` Mass of argon gas of volume `200 cm^3`
`=200/1000 times 1.184=0.2368 g`.
