An ideal gas is found to obey a gas law, `Vp^2`= constant .Initial temperature and volume of the gas are T and V respectively. IF the gas expands to a volume 2V, what will be the effect on temperature?

Here `Vp^2`=constant………..(1)
For an ideal gas pV=RT or `p=(RT)V`
Subsituting for p , equation (1) gives
`(VtimesR^2timesT^2)/V^2`=constant or , `T^2/V`= constant
When the value of the gas expands to 2V, suppose the temperature is T..
`thereforeT^2/V=(T.^2)/(2V)or,(T.^2)/T^2=2or,T.=Tsqrt2`
