Specific gravities of two liquids are 0....

Specific gravities of two liquids are 0.8 and 0.5. The thermal capacity of 3 L of the first one is equal to that of 2 L of the second one. Compare their specific heats.

Volume of the first liquid = 3 L = `3000cm^(3)`
`therefore` Mass of the frist liquid, `m_(1)=3000xx0.8g`
Volume of the second liquid = 2 L = `2000cm^(3)`
`therefore` Mass of the second liquid, `m_(2)=2000xx0.5g`
As the thermal capacities of the two liquids are equal,
`m_(1)s_(1)=m_(2)s_(2)`
`"or, "(s_(1))/(s_(2))=(m_(2))/(m_(1))=(2000x0.5)/(3000xx0.8)=(2xx5)/(3xx8)=(5)/(12).`
