C(p) - C(v) = a for hydrogen gas and C(p...

`C_(p) - C_(v) = a` for hydrogen gas and `C_(p) - C_(v) = b` for oxygen gas. What is the relation between a and b?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`C_(p) and C_(v)` are molar specific heats. As hydrogen and oxygen gases satisfy the properties of an ideal gas, `C_(p) - C_(v) = R` for both the gasses . So, a = b.
