What type of thermodynamic process is associated with sudden bursting of an inflated balloon?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In a sudden burst, the air inside the balloon expands to a much higher volume in a very short interval of time. The balloon-air does not get sufficient time to exchange heat with its surroundings. So the associated thermodynamic process is an adiabatic expansion.
