If the time period and amplitude are T and A respectively, then find the time taken by a particle executing SHM to reach the position `x=A/2` from x = A.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Equation of an SHM, `x=Acosomegat=A"cos"(2pi)/Tt`.
Now at t = 0, x = A, when `x=A/2`, we get from the above equation,
`A/2=A"cos"(2pi)/Tt or,"cos"(2pi)/Tt=1/2="cos"pi/3or,t=T/6`
`therefore` The particle takes a time of `T/6` to move from x = A to `x=A/2`.
